Internship FAQs

Internship FAQs

1.

Q: What documents are required for finding an internship on my own?

A: Starting from the 113th academic year, finding an internship on your own requires approval from the department, college, and university internship committees. This process may take six months to a year. If you intend to apply, please contact the department office early. Internship hours completed before signing the contract will not be counted.

2.

Q: How often should I write an internship work journal? When should I submit the internship evaluation form?

A: You need to write four internship work journals. Both the journals and the evaluation form must be submitted to the department for filing. The "Tourism Industry Internship" course is a mandatory course in the second semester of the fourth year. Students who have completed their internship hours and are preparing to enter their fourth year can inform the department office before the course selection period to enroll in this course.

3.

Q: How many internship hours are required to meet the graduation threshold? If I intern for 100 hours at Company A and 100 hours at Company B, does the total of 200 hours meet the requirement?

A: The graduation requirement is a minimum of 200 internship hours at the same internship unit. Exceptions can be made for special circumstances, such as natural disasters, company closure, workplace bullying, or infringement of employee rights, provided there is evidence. In such cases, you can apply for a change of internship unit by filling out a change application form. Only for reasons beyond your control can hours from two different internship units be combined.

4.

Q: What internship units are offered through the department's external internship matching?

A: This varies each year, so please refer to the institutions announced for the current year.

5.

Q: What internship units can I find on my own?

A: You can apply to any institution that meets the criteria outlined in the Tamkang University International Tourism Management Department's guidelines for external internships for students in the all-English bachelor's program. Starting from the second semester of the 113th academic year, the review process and timeline for finding your own internship unit have become more stringent and complex. If you wish to find your own internship unit, please apply at least six months in advance and understand that not every self-found internship unit will necessarily pass the review.
